On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the »Grindelhochhäuser« the 450 sq.m. »einwortwerk« (»onewordwork(of art)«) was enrolled. The poem is a documentary extract of several statements of former dwellers of the »Grindelhochhäuser« about their experiences in the early years of the complex. The words/statements are partly very personal or just banal.
The basic idea was to convey individual retrospection into public space.
The 429 »einwortwerke« (single words) are now on sale.
The highrise buildings »Grindelhochhäuser« (Germany´s first highrise buildings / 1946–1956 planning and construction period) were originally planned for British officers. When the British headquarters had been moved to Frankfurt, the buildings became publicly funded housing. The »Grindelhochhäuser« are still considered as a masterpiece of german post-war architecture.
Old promotion movie of the »Grindelhochhäuser« in German. Nonetheless worth watching.

Inspiring Cities Museum of CityPoems
Inspiring Cities has collected many citypoems over the years, as well as organized salons with citypoets and cities doing special projects. We have two criteria for what a citypoem is: the intention must be poetic, and it must be in the public realm of cities. Shapes, form and locations can and do differ.
The Museum of CityPoems has citypoems from cities all over the world. From Alhambra to Zonnebeke, from Taipei to Lima.
